The Museum of Painted Wooden Houses in Čičmany is a significant cultural institution that offers visitors an in-depth look into the history and tradition of the village's unique painted wooden houses. It is housed in one of Čičmany's typical houses and showcases the art and craftsmanship characteristic of this region.

The painted wooden houses of Čičmany are famous for their geometric patterns applied with white paints on black wooden walls. These decorations, which originally served both aesthetic and practical purposes, protected the wood from the weather conditions while reflecting cultural symbols and traditions.

Vandring

The museum requires a relatively small entry fee but is well worth it. They have about 200 painted chests from Slovakia and Czech Republic between 18-20th century. The guide new a lot about the customs and the chests themselves. In was impressive to see all different kinds.
