A church in Dietfurt was first mentioned in a document in 1144, but no more precise information is available. Around the year 1400, the church was probably replaced by a new Gothic building, of which the 60 m high tower has survived to this day. Due to the poor structural condition, the nave was rebuilt in the 1730s according to plans by the Eichstätt court building director Gabriel de Gabrieli

The parish church of St. Ägidius was first mentioned in 1144. Around 1408 a new building was built in the Gothic style, parts of which are still preserved.

Today's baroque building was built between 1732 and 1734 according to the plans of the famous Eichstätt court architect Gabriel de Gabrieli.

On the high altar are the most important works of art of this church - the two adoring angels next to the tabernacle. Its creator is Ignaz Günther, probably the most outstanding Bavarian Rococo sculptor who was born in nearby Altmannstein.
