The impressively large figure of the sea god Neptune stood on a rock in the middle of a pond in the former Seegarten (today's Adenauerplatz) in the 19th century. Back then, the Seegarten was a popular meeting place for young mothers and nannies who took their children for a walk. When Neptune was still undamaged, he still had his trident in his raised hand. Even then, he stepped on a dolphin with his foot, and water splashed through its nostrils onto the sea god.
