But why is there a village in Sicily, albeit a miniature one, like the one you can visit in Puglia? It would seem that everything revolves around a chapel, still today a point of reference for many of the faithful in the area. What is considered a sanctuary was a destination for pilgrims who reached there on foot or on horseback. However, it was consecrated as such by some inhabitants of Sferracavallo who, over the years, have fueled the false myth that is still widespread today in popular culture, namely that it is a small church.

A place of worship for those who fell at sea, therefore, it was actually a guard outpost, which is why it was re-appellated, in honor of the facts, "Fortino". It is there that, all around, what may seem like an open-air museum was created, made up of trulli overlooking the sea.
