It was built in the 18th century as the residence of the Counts of Cirat family, one of the most influential families of the time in the region. After the death of the Counts of Cirat, the building passed through several hands and uses, as a Civil Guard barracks, school and public library. Currently, the building is the headquarters of the Provincial Historical Archive of Albacete.
