Vandring
Roßwein is located in the heart of Saxony, in a very scenic area. In the 6th to 9th centuries, the settlement of the Roßwein area by Slavic peoples began. In 1162, Otto the Rich founded the Cistercian monastery inzelle, whose monks made a significant contribution to the founding and development of Roßwein. Roßwein was first mentioned in 1220.

Vandring
With the transfer of ownership of the town of Roßwein to the Altzella monastery around 1220, construction of the town wall began. The small town in the Mulden attained economic importance around 1400 through the development of crafts and trades; especially cloth makers, wool weavers, shoemakers, butchers and bakers. Mining for silver began in the Kaiser-Heinrich Stolln, which lasted until the beginning of the 19th century.
