The St. Jans Klus has been used as a place of pilgrimage since 1328, but it was probably built in the 8th century. Until the completion of a new church in the center of Haaren in 1824, it served as the parish church for many years. Today there is a four-winged brick courtyard with a small wayside chapel at one corner of the courtyard.

There is a café in the building and the former chapel can be rented for events.

A klus is the name of an old, small chapel. Like a farmhouse, it was often built in half-timbered construction. The term Klus is a Low German form of Klause, cloister.

The building complex is a former monastery complex with a four-wing brick courtyard from the mid-19th century. The core of the house is older, the buildings are whitewashed, the farm buildings are partly half-timbered. The house has two floors in four axes. On the corner is a brick wayside chapel with a crucifixion group, built around 1888 by Theodor Schreinemacher.
