The Colosseum Theater in Essen has been setting standards as a historical location for industrial culture in the Ruhr area for over 20 years. The impressive industrial monument with its three-aisled factory hall and cathedral-like dimensions used to belong to the Krupp city and was converted into one of the most modern musical theaters in the Ruhr area in 1995. Guest performances of popular musicals and shows as well as public and private events are held in stylish industrial architecture.

The building once served as an industrial hall, today the Essen Colosseum Theater is one of the most important musical venues in the country. The factory building was built by the Krupp company between 1900 and 1901. Its characteristic exterior is still there today, the red facade is the distinguishing feature of the theatre. Inside there is room for 1,500 spectators on plush armchairs, which are also red. The surrounding galleries are characteristic of the foyer.
