The name of this fountain comes from the shield that presided over it and that belonged to Tomàs de Lorenzana, bishop of Girona, born in León, where you could distinguish two lions that symbolized the origins of the prelate.
Today the shield has been lost, although the place it occupied can still be sensed. You can also see the lock of the riera de la Torre that took advantage of the water and led it towards the mas de la Torre. Today this lock serves to reach the source without getting wet when the stream carries water.
