The Pied Flycatcher Mile is an idea of NABU Dötlingen-Wildeshausen. 90 nesting boxes were hung up in groups of three along the Heideweg. Then the great tit and blue tit each move into a box, both of which do not tolerate a pair of the same species in the immediate vicinity. The third remains for the pied flycatchers, which later return from the south.
Several broods of the pied flycatcher were observed in the first year.
