The View of Herrenchiemsee Palace from the Grand Canal offers a majestic perspective of King Ludwig II's grand New Palace, situated on Herreninsel, the largest island in Lake Chiemsee, Bavaria, Germany. This iconic viewpoint, at an elevation of approximately 521 metres, is a central feature of the palace's formal gardens, which were meticulously designed as a tribute to the Palace of Versailles. The island itself is nestled in the heart of Upper Bavaria, about 60 kilometres southeast of Munich, and…

The Herreninsel with Herrenchiemsee Castle is the region's main attraction and attracts a large number of visitors every year. The "Bavarian Versailles", as it is often called, is a pompous, magnificent building built in the style of the French Baroque and Rococo, which was modeled on the Palace of Versailles.

It is disappointing that the building administration of the Free State of Bavaria could allow to build a fun bath exactly in the visual axis. How is such a crime possible? Did one seriously think that the Apollo fountain, which had never been realized, could be the highlight of Parkache? Is it a late affront to the unloved King Ludwig II, who almost ruined the state finances of his time and still lets the cash register ring today?
The glittering in the sunlight something is a big nuisance. At least bring the thoughts back to the banal reality.

    Herrenchiemsee Palace Canal
The large Apollo fountain was supposed to be built in front of the "Grand Canal", but it was never completed. In Greek and Roman mythology, Apollo was the god of light, spring, moral purity and moderation, as well as prophecy and the arts.
When the water is low, you can cross the canal on the stones... to the great amazement of the people who sail past it on boats - the stones are hardly visible from the lake side and so you walk on the water for them. Just give it a try! :-)
