It houses with the marsh angelica (Angelica palustris), the dark crested azure (Maculinea nausithous), the helmet aunt (Coenagrion mercuriale) and the narrow diaper snail (Vertigo angustior) four Appendix II species, for the Thuringia a particularly large Bears responsibility. Already in 1967, the area with an area of 101 ha was secured as a nature reserve.
