Those who, leaving the city circuit of the main streets, visit the ancient districts find themselves immersed in a tortuous tangle of streets, alleys, courtyards, which in the past were the privileged places of village social life. Then the earthquake of 1968, emigration and the rise of the new residential district of the Sasi district depopulated these places, and with the abandonment a slow degradation took over. For some years many suggestive corners of the historic center of Calatafimi have been removed from decay, restructured and destined to illustrate its history and traditions.
