Near streams and rivers—just a stone's throw away (right behind the statue), the two Eifel rivers, the Urft and Olef, converge—he is by far the most prominent saint: Saint John of NEPOMUK (c. 1345 to 1393), dressed in the priestly habit of his time (he was Vicar General of the Archbishop of Prague) and holding a cross in his hand, is popularly considered a "bridge saint." Furthermore, perhaps not many people know, he is the patron saint of the seal of confession, and is therefore sometimes depicted with a finger to his lips—the typical gesture of silence.

The baroque statue of the bridge Saint John of Nepomuk, made around 1730 and made of red sandstone based on the Prague bridge figures, on a base from 1738 with the Harff/Hoheneck coat of arms, has marked the point where Olef and Urft flow together since 1859/60. Source: Wikipedia
