Unfortunately, the thick oak had to be cut to 5 meters in 2012 due to serious damage. Their age is estimated at 800-1000 years. It was already impressive to stand in front of it and to know how long this tree had been there and what it had gotten through

After staying in Upper Bavaria for over twenty years and returning 5 years ago, I wanted to visit the "Big Oak" near Airlenbach again. How amazed I was that only a 5m high stump remained of the imposing tree. Unfortunately, the ravages of time have gnawed at it too well. As a child and young adult, I always enjoyed visiting this natural monument and was able to marvel at it in all its glory.
