Vandring
What a beautiful old canal the Rapenburg is. With the old university, the stately large mansions and the national museum of antiquities. A pearl of Leiden.

Vandring
This canal was dug around 1200 to properly defend the young city of Leiden.
In the 17th century, the canal grew into the most sought-after and most chic canal in the city.
Professors, printers, rich merchants and regents lived here.
These notables had beautiful mansions built there. Travel guides from the 17th century already stated: "Of the Dutch cities, Leiden is the most beautiful and of all the streets and canals in Leiden, Rapenburg is the most beautiful".
