The Botanical Garden St.Gallen displays 8,000 labeled plants from all over the world. With exhibitions, public and private tours and regular publications, the interested public can learn a lot of exciting things about them. Visitors who are not coming for a botanical high are also welcome. The Botanical Garden offers them a lively place to relax and meet people.

Vandring
The first botanical garden in St.Gallen was created in 1878 in the city park north of today's Nature and Art Museum. It was founded by the museum's first director, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Wartmann, who supplemented the objects in the museum with a living plant collection. When most of the garden had to make way for the construction of the Historical Museum in 1918, he found an alternative location around what is now the University of Education.
