The stone monuments from the Mithraeum: the god Mercury, the lion and the consecration stone are on the market square in front of the town museum.

Roman times, town history 1920-1990 and old home cabinet
In 2007 the permanent exhibition was opened on the upper floor of the City Museum. It spans a wide arc between two important epochs of Gross-Gerau history. With the "Römer in Groß-Gerau" almost three centuries of Roman past are demonstrated in today's Auf Esch district from the Augustan period to the beginning of the migration of peoples.

Vandring

The stone figures from Roman times are well worth seeing and are somewhat hidden behind a hedge on the edge of the market square. Unfortunately, the descriptive information board is difficult to read. In Roman times, Groß-Gerau was in the so-called Agri decumates (tithes), which existed from about 72 and was abandoned in the course of the Alemannic invasions between 260 and 280.
