The wooded fellsides to the east of Windermere are a lovely place for a stroll. Burrow Beck chortles alongside the main path here, descending from its source on the high ground between Gummer's How and Birch Fell. Once out of the woods, there are plenty of excellent viewpoints for the fells of the South Lakes, such as from the ever-popular Gummer's How.
