If you arrive at the port by cruise ship and want to go to the city, you cannot walk across the port area alone. There are extra buses that take you to the exit of the port.

With almost 175,000 inhabitants, Heraklion is the fourth largest city in Greece and is located on the north coast of the island of Crete. It is the most important port in Crete and an important port city. Cruise ships visit Heraklion around 500 times a year, as Crete is a frequent destination for cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean.
