A church stood here as early as the 7th century, but the current ruins come from a Romanesque church from the 12th century. Outside the church there is a cemetery where you can also discover an old sundial.

Kilmalkedar (Irish: Cill Maoilchéadair; German: "Maolcethair's Church") is a Romanesque church ruin on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. It is one of the county's church-historical highlights.
The Romanesque church was built in the 12th century over an older monastery that is said to have been founded by St. Maolcethair († 636) of the Iro-Scottish Church. The Romanesque doorway has a tympanum with a head on one side and an animal on the other. In the church ruins there is a culturally and historically important, perforated Ogham stone and a cross slab.
