Artwork 'The Atmosphere' (2003)
De Sfeer can be found at the Theobaldus Chapel.
Contractor Vangeel, who redeveloped Patersstraat, donated the work of art to the city. It is
a steel sphere, doused with water, which looks especially idyllic in the evening when it is illuminated.
The sphere obviously refers to the cannonballs that Our Lady shot according to legend
Theobaldus Chapel is said to have been sheltered during the Battle of Turnhout. In this way, the Turnhout Patriot Army is said to have defeated the Austrian army in 1789.
