"In order to be able to grind during the day, the water for the sloe mill had to be dammed up at night. While the mill was in the house and the mill wheel right next to it, the weir was about half a kilometer upstream. The mill canal still branches off there today. The miller had to hike up there every morning and release the dammed water."
