Vandring

The former monastery church of St. Michael in Neunkirchen am Brand was part of the former monastery of the Augustinian canons, who gave up the monastery after the Reformation. Today, the monastery church, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, is the center of the Catholic parish. Many art treasures dating from the 13th to the 17th century can be found in the parish church, the Gothic Augustinian chapel and the former treasury, as well as in the scriptorium.

The single-nave church from the 11th/12th. Century was rebuilt around 1270/1280. Major renovations then took place in the second half of the 14th century, with the cloister being built and the choir being rebuilt. Around 1400 the nave was expanded and a side aisle was added; the Lady Chapel was built before 1437. After the monastery was abolished in 1552, the tower and then the main nave were raised around 1690. In 1702 the east wing of the monastery was expanded into a rectory.
