The magnificent Romanesque church of Molinaseca with its large paradisiacal area (covered entrance area), where we took a short break, is entrusted to the Virgin Mary as patron under the title of "Nuestra Senora" which is common in Spain. Our small group of pilgrims passed the sanctuary on the 23rd stage of the Camino Frances (counted according to "Rother") from Foncebadon to Ponferrada.

The Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias in Molinaseca is closely linked to the Camino de Santiago, as it is one of the most important points on the route that connects Astorga with Santo Tomás de las Ollas through the pass of Foncebadón.

The temple already existed in the eleventh century, although it had to be rebuilt in 1512 after the previous one was destroyed by fire.
