Between Cordoba and Santa Cruz there is a good alternative to the country road. The route is called Ruta del Cordel de Granada and is part of the Mozarabic Way of St. James. After a certain time, the rough gravel road becomes a "bumpy path" with many longitudinal grooves and partly sand. However, it is still good for touring bikes.
