Vandring

The town hall was built from 1924 to 1927, by a local, but very famous architect, Emile Dubuisson. The building is dominated by a belfry of 104 meters high. With this, the belfry was recognized for a long time as the highest building in France. At the foot of this, the two giants are sculpted: Lydéric and Phinaert. From the top floor, you have a fantastic panorama over the city (with elevator or after 400 steps).

The town hall was built between 1924 and 1932 by the architect Emile Dubuisson, who drew inspiration from the Flemish tradition with his houses with triangular facades, using a resolutely modern material: reinforced concrete.
The interior presents a large hall 107 metres long, interrupted by two rows of pillars with floral motifs. An exceptional collection of contemporary art adorns the stairwells, corridors and town halls. The most spectacular fresco is that of the Icelandic Erro, who tells the story of the city in the form of comic strips.
