Athens, of course, is literally stone old. Over the millennia houses have been built o top of ruins, there is an old town beneath the current one. I an amazing project, part of this old town has been excavated before the museum was built above it, resting on massive concrete columns and protecting the excavation from the elements at the same time.
Upon exiting the museum, stay to your left to find the walk down to the entrance where your museum ticket will be needed.
