The current church is a three-aisled Romanesque bacilica. The oldest part of the church is the basilica itself, with central and side aisles made of medieval red brick.
The large square tower was built in the west at the end of the 15th century.
The tower's current copper-clad lantern top dates from 1763.

The church was built from bricks at the beginning of the 13th century and bears clear traces of North German architecture. The church is now a Romanesque basilica with three naves. The oldest part of the church is the basilica with central and side aisles made up of monks.
At the end of the 15th century the large crossing tower to the west was erected. The current copper-covered lantern top was added in 1763.
