Vandring

The history of the Central Library dates back to the founding of the city of Vancouver in 1867 when a sawmill was built. The Hastings Mill manager was then setting up a library for mill workers. The space required for the library increased over the years and several relocations and structural changes were implemented. Since 1995, the Central Library has been housed in the new building on Library Square, with a Colosseum-inspired design, occupying a full block downtown.

Vandring

One of the largest public libraries in Canada. Well worth a visit. There are toilets, cafes and computer terminals. There are also plenty of places to sit down and read or browse.
