Vandring

The station building itself was only built in 1861. Until then, the basement of the Casino on Leopoldplein served as a service building. The construction of a new station was delayed due to differences of opinion between the Belgian State and the Lier-Turnhout concession. It is built in neoclassical style. The central part has two storeys and consists of five bays. To its left and right are side buildings of four bays.

The station has been renovated several times. Its appearance was changed several times, first by a large telephone mast on the roof (from ca. 1900 to ca. 1935), in the second half of the 20th century with the replacement of the glass canopy by a closed one, and by the pylons in the electrification of railway lines in Belgium. The building has been protected as a monument since 1995.

The building has been a protected monument since 1995.
