Vandring
Darwin Park in Zaandam was created around 1970 in the midst of urban expansion. It forms the link between town and country and has an important ecological function.
Four themed gardens with matching artworks have been created in the southern half of the park along the north-south path. A woodland garden, a moor garden, a grass garden and a water garden. Each themed garden has its own atmosphere and character. They are independent biotopes in which plants and animals form a unit. However, the gardens have a clear ecological relationship to one another; they remain in balance through their cohesion.
