On the spot where today's parish church "Johannes der Täufer" stands, a previous building was mentioned in a document as early as 1328, but the first sacred building can be assumed to have been a subsidiary church of Maria Wörth much earlier. The church was built in 1787 and consecrated in 1794. The tower collapsed in 1891 and the façade was redesigned between 1904 and 1906 as part of the reconstruction.
