De Plaatmolen is located along the route of the Molenlandroute in the vicinity of the sports center of Pittem. The City Mill, which is owned by the municipality of Pittem, was protected as a monument by virtue of the ministerial decree of 6 February 1985. The stone mill was built in 1910 and closed in 1949. The mill was the last of the working windmills in Pittem.

Windmill founded in 1910 and decommissioned in 1949 as the last working windmill in Pittem. Today it is owned by the municipality of Pittem with the intention of restoring the mill in a multi-year project and making it suitable for grinding again and setting it up as a stopping place and tourist attraction.
