Vandring

A strong kinship with the Scheldt is a metal sculpture, built entirely from old hand tools. These were donated by the residents of Berendrecht, Zandvliet and Lillo. Rudi Devoght turned it into a work of art. The winding column symbolizes the Scheldt. Berendrecht, Zandvliet and Lillo have been immortalized as man, woman and child who look to the future together with confidence. The rat (the Berendrechtenaren), the lapwing (the Zandvlietaren) and the crab (the inhabitants of Lillo are called the crab catchers) are also present in the artwork.
