In ancient times, the Colossus of Rhodes is said to have stood above the harbor entrance. The approximately 30 m high bronze figure, which depicted the sun god Helios, was known as one of the seven wonders of the world. He was probably born in the 3rd century. destroyed by an earthquake before Christ.

"In ancient times, the Colossus of Rhodes stood above the entrance to the port." According to our guide, it's a pretty legend. He added that a big chain blocked the entrance, and that you had to pay (already 😉) to enter the port. It’s less poetic, but more plausible 😂
