Vandring

The war fire of 1914 had almost completely destroyed the theatre. Reconstruction took place in two phases. The shell, which was entrusted to the renowned Brussels architect Alban Chambon, would not be completed until 1931. That same year, a competition was announced for the further completion and decoration of the building. The winner was the Ghent architect J. Van Den Hende, who enjoyed considerable freedom in redesigning the interior, not only in terms of the choice of materials and decorative themes, but also in the appointment of his assistants.

City architect Edward Lavergne was entrusted in 1863 with the construction of a new concert hall to replace the well-known "Frascati" hall of the Cordemans family.

He opted for a monumental design with a classicist eclecticism; this in a rectangular, quasi-detached building with an extended central part on the building line. He envisioned a foyer and a hall with a capacity of around 1000 seats, all richly decorated. A traditional public space: with an orchestra pit, parquet floor, parterre, balconies and honorary boxes downstairs. Sculptor Gérard Vander Linden was responsible for the sculptural decor.

Vandring

The Theater was opened in 1867, designed by city architect Edward Lavergne. The building was rebuilt after the First World War and was renovated again in 1952 and in the period 1994-1996. It is a protected monument. The 30CC culture center provides the programming in the hall.
