The plane tree of Hippocrates is an oriental plane tree named after the Greek physician Hippocrates of Kos and is located in the Greek town of Kos on the island of the same name. Legend has it that under this tree Hippocrates would have taught his students medicine. The plane tree is an oriental plane tree (Platanus orientalis) and has a diameter of 12 meters in the crown.
The current plane tree is approximately 500 years old and may be a descendant of the tree that according to legend would have been there over 2,400 years ago.

The current tree is about 500 years old, possibly it is an offshoot of the former (2500 years old) plane tree.
Despite the bad tribe still very wide and dense treetop.
A very large (scaffolding) erected around the tree is not exactly beautiful, but it seems necessary.
The sole tree is a bit hidden, a large square with tavern invites you to take a break in the Greek heat.
The location is not crowded touristy, despite its popularity and importance.
