Built in 1927, the Boa-nova Lighthouse measures 46 meters, being one of the highest in the country, at 57 meters above sea level. In 1950 it was electrified and in 1964 it was connected to the public electricity network, controlling from that moment on, the operation of the Quebra-mar lampposts, the north and south docks of Leixões and Felgueiras, thus constituting the first network of remote control installed in the country.
