Vandring

Three building periods can now be identified in the church: the Gothic tower shaft, the neo-Gothic building according to Fisenne and the extensions of our time, which are subordinate to a large formal concept and thus complement each other excellently. Due to the use of quarry stones in the side aisles, which were also present in the old building, the extensions are hardly noticeable at first glance. This is how a dignified place of worship was created over many generations, which is always worth a visit.

This church in Reifferscheid (Ahrweiler district) was dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The name (from the Hebrew language) means "Who is like God?" He is often depicted—in paintings or as a statue—with a flaming sword, occasionally with a lance. Michael is—along with Raphael and Gabriel, and occasionally Uriel—one of the three or four archangels who (according to human belief) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the calendar of saints is September 29th.
