It is an important archaeological site that includes ruins dating from pre-Roman times and are located on the old road that linked two of the most important cities at the time, Córdoba and Toledo. Studies have been able to conclude that what is known as a "palatium" was built here, that is, an aristocratic residence of the time that was converted for funerary and monasterial functions.
