On December 12, 1906, the electric suburban trains from Cologne and Mülheim to Bergisch Gladbach went into operation. The route ran on its own track via Thielenbruch and Schlodderdich to the Kieppemühle, from where it followed today's Richard-Zanders-Straße and the main street to the market square in Bergisch Gladbach. The final stop was in front of the church
St. Lawrence. Canal construction work, the poor condition of the tracks and a decreasing number of passengers meant that the line ended in Thielenbruch from November 1958. Until 1980, rail replacement bus services ran from there to Bergisch Gladbach.
