The church was consecrated in 1926. The entrance portal of the previous church remained and was integrated into the new choir, a new entrance was built on the opposite side. The church belongs to the parish community Effata in Spessart.

"The first church in the district of Habichsthal was built in 1764 by chaplain Augustin Gett. It was consecrated to the holy virgin and martyr St. Thekla. This church was partially demolished in 1926 under Pastor Julius Brander, after it was insufficient in terms of space, and rebuilt and expanded. Only the rear part of the old church remained, which became the chancel of the new church. The consecration took place on August 29, 1926."

The first church building in Habichsthal was built in 1764. Because it became too small for the growing congregation, it was partially demolished in 1926 and some parts incorporated into the enlarged new building. The church was consecrated that same year, again in the name of Saint Thekla.
