Typical of the Stiftland, there is a flat rock sequence here. It consists of quartzites (thick banks) alternating with mica schists (thin layers). These are metamorphic rocks that were formed from sands or sandstones (the quartzites) and clays or mudstones (the mica schists) during the mountain-building processes of the Variscan mountain-building phase. The sequence emerged from deposits in a marine area.
