The lock was built as part of the Lahn expansion and was completed in 1850.
The modified lock keeper's house is part of the standard construction of the Lahn expansion of 1841/42. The outbuilding made of rubble with a bricked-up half-timbered knee wall is still unchanged. The lock and the lock keeper's house are listed as historical monuments for historical, artistic and technical reasons.
