The beginnings of the parish Burggrumbach, to which the subsidiary parishes Hilpertshausen, Rupprechtshausen and Unterpleichfeld belonged, are not known. It is certain, however, that before 1324 there was a parish of Burggrumbach under the patronage of the Counts of Rieneck. The patronage right of the Counts of Rieneck existed until 1353 and then passed to the Würzburg cathedral chapter until 1674, then until 1803 and again from 1925 to the bishop himself. From 1803 to 1918 it lay with the King of Bavaria.
