In the "Ehrenfriedhof Sonthofen" on the hill in the "Schwäbeleholz" the dead soldiers from the two world wars are commemorated. Inaugurated in 1956, it houses the graves of almost 1,600 soldiers. If you take a closer look at the graves, you will see that some of the mostly young men were only buried here a few years after the end of the Second World War: They are probably injured who had been injured in hospitals in the area as a result of the long-term effects of a war injury are deceased.
