The Luthereiche was planted in 1807 for the 300th anniversary of the Lutherthesen.
Previously, the place was visited because of its far view, then was in the area no forest.

This oak tree was planted on October 31, 1817 to mark the 300th anniversary of the Reformation and the posting of Martin Luther's theses on the Castle Church in Wittenberg.
It was a popular destination for spa guests, who enjoyed the remarkable view over the Taunus mountains, which were not forested at the time.
The small detour from the König-Wilhelms-Weg is worthwhile. There is a newer memorial stone and an information board.
