The most striking source of the Göhl is a natural spring lake in the forest, about 300 meters north of the official Via Gulia starting point. Several small tributaries converge here, quickly joining to form a lively stream, thus symbolizing the end of the source zone.

"The small river has its source at Hebscheider Heide near the German-Belgian border and after 20 kilometers it crosses the border to the Netherlands, where it flows into the Meuse after another 40 kilometers.
