The ascent to the castle is quite steep, but with the appropriate support it is definitely worth it. The castle itself is also called youth castle and accordingly there are some "exhibits" in the inner courtyard (armour, stage, dungeon, etc.). But the view of Neuerburg from above is also very nice.

Documentary evidence is the existence of Neuerburg since 1132.
But it must have existed before, because "the count of Vianden 1270 the castle and rule Neuerburg as an old fief of his house called, which he himself received from the count of Luxembourg."

As in the Eifel very frequently changed in Neuerburg the gentlemen several times.
Today (since 1926) the Neuerburg is used as a youth castle and visits must be expected to be threatened by Dreikäsehochs with foam sword. 😄

Vandring

Today, a youth hostel is housed in the old walls of the Neuerburg. The rooms are designed in style and here families and youth groups can make a real journey into the Middle Ages. Courtyard, chapel and ruin part of the castle are freely accessible and can be visited. From the keep you have a nice view into the valley.
